The clock mechanism was supplied by the JAS company, it is wound manually.
The merger of the JAS and Anýž companies represented the cutting edge of the time – Štěpánek supplied the “brain” (a precision mechanical machine with manual winding) and Anýžs workshop produced a luxurious metal case.
JAS is a trademark of the Czechoslovak company Josef Alois Štěpánek, which was based in Prague and specialized in the sale and assembly of luxurious clock mechanisms.
František Anýž was a leading Czech artistic metalworker and designer, whose company became famous for the production of luxurious metal cases for table and wall clocks. His works were distinguished by their precise craftsmanship and developed in style from decorative Art Nouveau and Art Deco to pure functionalism. He implemented designs by top architects and sculptors, this connecting watchmaking with the high applied arts of the first half of the 20th century. Anýžs clocks are still highly valued collectors items, representing the prestige and elegance of the interiors of that time.
