This sideboard (bufet) is an iconic piece of interwar Czechoslovak design from the 1930s. It was designed by the legendary architect Jindřich Halabala, who, as the chief designer for the United UP Works in Brno, fundamentally shaped the face of modern living. This piece combines the luxurious aesthetic of Art Deco with the functionality that was central to Halabalas work and UP Works production.

The sideboard has undergone precise restoration, highlighting its exceptional material craftsmanship. The blockboard construction is veneered in rare mahogany, with the most striking feature being the checkerboard-patterned veneer on the front doors, complemented by a substantial, bold handle. The sides of the cabinet allow the natural, deep grain of the mahogany to stand out fully. Internally, the space is practically organized into a system of shelves and four drawers, making it a highly functional storage unit.

The surface finish was executed using a modern technique to refresh the original polish, ensuring an authentic look while providing high resistance to water and mechanical damage. This is an invaluable advantage for a sideboard intended for everyday use.
